When planning this trip, we decided to give ourselves a long break in VA and DC to spend time with our parents, unwind, and thoroughly clean all of our gear. After the relatively fast pace we set for ourselves through the southwest and midwest, it was nice to relax into some familiar surroundings at home. In Virginia, we enjoyed a few long walks around Burke Lake and a short a hike in Fountainhead Regional Park. We took a trip into Maryland for some strawberry picking at Butler's Orchard, a favorite place of mine from when I was a little kid. Matt even had a chance to get in some unicycling while we were home.
